One of the most significant archaeological sites, which flourished during Great Moravia. It is believed that it was one of the centres of the state.
The oldest surviving literature on the Czech territory, whose creation is connected with the activities of Saints Cyril and Methodius, which began in 863. The literature was written in Old Church Slavonic, the oldest Slavonic literary language.

Hussite priest, theologian, preacher and elected archbishop (although never recognised by the Pope), who fundamentally influenced the formation and character of the Utraquist Church.
Duke of Great Moravia in 846–870. The brothers Cyril and Methodius came to Great Moravia during his reign.
A historical term for a fortified town that rulers gave to their consorts as a type of titular gift.
A prominent Czech noble family in the Middle Ages and early modern period. The lords of Rožmberk were owners of the largest estate in the Czech lands and their power and wealth often matched the kings of Bohemia themselves.
Austrian and Styrian Duke in 1298–1306, King of Bohemia in 1306–1307. He was the first representative of the Habsburg dynasty on the Bohemian throne.
The first baptised Bohemian Princess. Grandmother and custodian to Saint Wenceslas. She was strangled by assassins hired by her daughter-in-law Drahomíra, probably in 921.
Duke of Bohemia from 921 until 935, the most important Czech saint and one of the symbols of Czech statehood. His cult played a crucial role in the formation of Czech national identity.
The oldest known polity of the West Slavs. A tribal union of Central European Slavs led by the Frankish merchant Samo, in existence between 626 and 661.
Unique cemetery chapel whose interior is decorated with human bones. Artistically exceptional type of ossuary, a sacred building for storing skeletal remains. One of the unique architectural projects by Santini, a Baroque Gothic architect.
King of Bohemia in 1436–1437, King of Hungary in 1387–1437, King of the Romans in 1410–1433 and Holy Roman Emperor in 1433–1437.
